Along with a rich variety of fauna and the famous Royal Bengal Tiger, Sariska is a paradise for birds as it hosts more than 200 species of birds which makes it an important birding destination in India. Sariska is heaven for aquatic species, as it is an ideal habitat where water is retained around the year, Resident species breed here while migratory ones only stay during winter.
These include Peafowl, (the largest population density in India) Grey partridge, Painted spurfowl, Bush Quail, Sand Grouse, Rufous Treepie, Golden-backed Woodpecker, Crested Serpent Eagle, White-eyed Buzzard, Oriental honey buzzard, Shikra, Short Toed snake eagle-owl, Disky eagle owl, brown fish owl, and Paradise flycatcher.
A large number of birds like Gloden oriole & Indian Pitta are migratory in the winter season, which provides enough reasons for bird lovers and ornithologists to visit the Sariska national park. Most of the birds inhabit the areas around the large water bodies – Karnakabas, Natni-ka-bara, Masnsoraver Dam, Silliserh Lake, Kankwari fort water bodies.
