Overview :

The Bala Quila is a towering fort that crowns a prominent hilltop overlooking the city of Alwar. Amazing fortifications surround the Nilkumbha Mahal Palace at the top, Which has graceful carved marble columns and delicate latticed balconies with drooping Bangalter leaves.

The fort is 595 mts. over MLS and extended 5kms from north to south and 1.6 km from east to west. The fort has 15 large and 51 small towers, which contain 446 loopholes for the musketry; its eight towers are meant for defense. The most magnificent is the 3599 kangurasor machicolations, each containing two loopholes.

The fort has six gates namely Jai Pol, Laxman Pol, Chand Pol, Suraj Pol, Krishan pol & Andheri Gate. The unique water harvesting system in the fort area is worth seeing as every drop of water has been conserved through channels to Baori’s like Suraj Kund, Matiya Kund & Kishan kund.

The Bala Quila fort area represents the rich Floral and Fonal biodiversity of Aravalli’s ecosystem. The area has carnivores like tiger, Leopard, Hyena, Jackal, Rusty-spotted cat & Jungal cat. It is unique for the presence of sambar deer, one can at close quarters. It has one of the highest densities of National Bird, peacock and a large number of Porcupines can be seen after sunset.

History of Bala Quila Alwar :

The Bala Quila is a 1200-year-old fort, situated on the hilltop in the lap of Aravallis. In the 15th Century, the fort was renovated by “Hasan Khan Mewati” and had been ruled by Marathas, Yadavas, and Rajputs.

The Babar (First Mughal Emperor) stayed here for few days and took a lot of wealth while going back. During the Akbar rule, his rebellious son Salim (who later become Emperor Jahangir ) was exiled and set to live in the Alwar fort (Bala Quila) for three years.

Bala Quila Safari :

Bala Quila was notified as part of Sariska in the year 2013. Later in July 2016 safari was introduced in this region by the forest department of Sariska to boost tourism and generate employment for the locals.

The forest range of Bala Quila has very great and unique biodiversity, Including Tigers, leopards, Jackal, Rusty-spotted cats, Hyena, etc. Currently, there is 2 tiger movement in this region (ST18 male & ST19 Female).

Safari can only be done via 4 by 4 Jeep and a jeep can accommodate a maximum of 6 visitors accomplished by a Nature guide and gypsy driver. Safari is for about 2 hours and spots like Jai Pol, Salim Sagar, Bala Quila, Jai Vilas, Surat kund are covered.

Bala Quila Entry Fees :

Bala Quila can be visited via gypsy or personal 4 wheeler (Car). Gypsy includes a 2-hour drive to Bala Fort. Which includes fort sightseeing with mesmerizing views and Safari tracks, where you have to change to sight, Tiger or Leopard.

While on the other hand, you can only visit the fort with your own car, as personal vehicles are not allowed on Safari Track.
